Author Guidelines

The editors of the Duta Medika Nursing Journal accept article submissions in accordance with the following guidelines:

The article must not have been previously published, accepted for publication, or under consideration for publication elsewhere. In addition to the manuscript, a written statement must be attached stating that the article is original and free from plagiarism. Ethical Clearance must be included.

The Duta Medika Nursing Journal publishes original research in one format: the article, which represents the original research. In most cases, we do not impose strict limits on word count or page count. However, we strongly encourage you to write concisely and adhere to the following guidelines:

1.   The minimum standard requirements for Duta Medika Nursing Journal must be met:

  • Written in Indonesian or English.
  • Article length of at least 6 pages and no more than 15 pages and arranged in one column. The editor will evaluate if the article requires more than 15 pages.
  • It is recommended to use tools such as Mendeley or End Note for reference management and formatting, using the APA (American Psychological Association) format
  • The manuscript is written in Cambria 11 pt and single spacing
  • Make sure the article is prepared using the Manuscript Template

2.   Manuscripts should be prepared and are advised to follow the following structure:

  • The title is written with a maximum of 20 words. The author's identity is written below the title which includes name, affiliation and correspondence email.
  • Abstracts are written in English with a maximum of 200 words. The abstract consists of one paragraph which includes the introduction, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions with a maximum of 4 (four) keywords separated by commas.
  • The introduction contains background, a brief review of the relevant literature, and research objectives.
  • Methods include design, population, sample, data sources, data collection techniques/instruments, data analysis procedures, and ethics.
  • Results are research findings that must be clear and concise.
  • The discussion must appropriately and argumentatively determine research results with relevant theories and previous findings.
  • Tables use single spacing and are numbered sequentially according to the presentation in the text. Images or formulas must be original. Make sure each illustration has a caption.
  • Provide information separately, not attached to the image. The image title should consist of a short title (not the image) and a description of the illustration.
  • Conclusions answer research problems and do not exceed the capacity of the findings.
  • Suggestions (if any) must refer to objectives and conclusions in a narrative, logical and effective form.

3.   Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the article submission process, authors are required to check all of the following items, and articles may be returned to authors who do not comply with these guidelines.

  • Submissions have not been previously published, are not in the process of being submitted to other journals.
  • The submission file is in a Word document (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) file format.
  • According to the Manuscript Template: Duta Medika Nursing Journal, and the text follows the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Article length of at least 6 pages and no more than 15 pages. The editor will evaluate if the article requires more than 15 pages.
  • Abstract has a maximum of 200 words, no citations, includes introduction, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions
  • Section structure: Introduction - Method - Results and Discussion - Conclusion
  • References consist of all references used in writing articles. References are suggested past 10 years and 90% from journals. All data or citations presented in the article taken from other authors' articles must attach reference sources. Referrals must use a Reference Manager Application such as Mendeley, End Note, or Zotero. The writing format used follows the format applied by the APA (American Psychological Association). The number of references used is 20-25.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Duta Medika Nursing Journal requires a completed PRISMA checklist and flowchart as a submission requirement when reporting findings from a systematic review or meta-analysis. Templates for these can be found here or on the PRISMA website, which also describes several extensions of the PRISMA checklist for various designs and data types beyond conventional systematic reviews evaluating interventions. At a minimum, the article should report the content addressed by each item in the checklist. Meeting these basic reporting requirements will significantly enhance the value of your review and may increase its chances of being published.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Document submissions must be made through the Online Submission System on the Duta Medika Nursing Journal e-journal portal.

1. First, authors must register as an author or reviewer (check the "author" or "reviewer" role) in the "Register" section.

2. After registration is complete, log in as an author and click "New Submission." The article submission process consists of five steps: (1). Start, (2). Upload Submission, (3). Enter Metadata, (4). Upload Additional Files, (5). Confirm.

3. In the "Start" column, select Journal Section (Full Article) and check all checklists.

4. In the "Upload Submission" column, upload the manuscript file in MS Word format.

5. In the "Enter Metadata" column, fill in all author and affiliation information. After that, enter the Journal Title, Abstract, and Indexing Keywords.

6. In the "Upload Additional Files" column, you are allowed to upload additional data files, statements, or other documents.

7. In the "Confirmation" column, if all the information you entered is correct, click "Complete Submission."
